I began having piano lessons just before I started school, when a piano teacher moved in around the corner. The headmaster at my primary school was a musician and encouraged everyone to have a go at an instrument so, at 7 years old, I began violin lessons.
From an early age I showed an interest in teaching and over the years practised on my 4 siblings, cousins, friends and anyone else who would listen!
I retained my interest in education and music and graduated in 1998, with a Bachelor of Education Degree in Primary Education with a specialism in Music.
I have been a class, special needs and supply teacher in primary schools and a music teacher in a middle school and secondary school. I have also taught privately to both children and adults.
My students vary widely in age, ability and objectives and my philosophy is to meet each one at his or her level and to adapt to whatever is needed to challenge, support and encourage the individual.
I am grateful to be able to combine my love and knowledge of music with my passion for teaching. I enjoy helping others to discover the potential for creative expression at their fingertips and building confidence in English, Maths and Music.
